Hepatitis C virus (HCV) can be genotyped/subtyped by line probe assay (LiPA). The HCV genotype of either 1a,1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 is determined and reported. In the United States, the most common HCV genotype is genotype 1a (60.3%) and genotype 1b (16.7%).1,2
